Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is CBD and how does it work?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is the primary cannabinoid found in products. It is one of over 100 naturally occurring cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant and is among the most thoroughly researched alongside THC. Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that occur naturally in the human body, and actively interact with cannabinoid receptors located throughout the human body. When CBD binds to these receptors, it triggers various physiological actions that help to regulate your appetite, pain sensation, mood, and memory.
How is CBD different from marijuana?
While CBD is a naturally occurring component of marijuana, it does not cause a “high” like some may think. The CBD we offer is derived directly from the hemp plant, which is a cousin of the marijuana plant. Industrial hemp is defined by US law as cannabis having 0.3% or less delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) content by dry weight.
What is the difference between broad- and full-spectrum CBD?
If an extract is full-spectrum, this means it contains all phytochemicals naturally found in the plant, including CBD, trace cannabinoids, terpenes, and essential oils. Full-spectrum extracts from hemp also come with a negligible THC content — below 0.3% Although non-psychoactive, full-spectrum CBD can give you a false positive during a drug test, especially if you consume high doses of CBD oil daily. That’s when the broad-spectrum CBD comes in. Like full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD contains cannabidiol and all the other compounds within the plant. However, it goes through an additional process to remove the trace amounts of THC, completely removing it after the initial extraction.
